Shalom Residences Inc. empowers adults with intellectual disabilities to live meaningful, dignified lives in community-based homes in Winnipeg, enriched by Jewish values.

We envision a community where individuals with intellectual disabilities are fully included, self-actualized, and valued in all aspects of life.

Did you know that accessibility criteria are listed for every polling station? We love to see this inclusion of accessibility to ensure every vote counts!Here's how to make sure your polling place meets your accessibility needs so that you can vote on April 28!🗳 Identify your polling place▪ Go to the Voter Information Service page and enter your postal code: www.elections.ca/Scripts/VIS/FindED?L=e&QID=-1&PAGEID=20▪ Click/touch "Where do I vote?"▪ You'll see your election day polling location and whether the site meets Elections Canada’s 15 accessibility criteria🗳 Confirm the polling place meets your accessibility needs▪ A site marked “accessible” means it meets the 15 criteria, but that doesn’t guarantee it’s accessible to you, as everyone’s needs are different▪ If you are not sure, click/touch the link "contact your returning officer" in the sign language section and call or TTY 1-800-361-8935 for persons who are deaf or hard of hearing🗳 Request a transfer certificate if needed▪ If the polling place doesn’t meet your needs, you can vote at a different location by getting a transfer certificate.▪ If you call in advance, you will have your polling place confirmed by the end of the call▪ You can also request a change on election day if needed (though it's better to plan ahead) ...
